Yannets Levi

Yannets Levi is a writer of books and drama, a TV host and a performer. He is one of Israel’s most popular writers for children and adults with 12 bestsellers published in a row. He won the 2010 Public Library Award, the most prestigious prize for children’s literature in Israel, and the 2016 Dvora Omer Award for Children’s Literature. In 2021 he was awarded the Prime Minister's Prize for Hebrew Literary Works (the Levi Eshkol Award).

Levi is the author of Uncle Leo's Adventures book series, Israel’s most popular book series and a cultural phenomenon. It sold more than one million copies in Israel and hundreds of thousands around the world. Yannets Levi’s Adventures, a musical comedy show performed by Levi and actor Ben Pery, is one of Israel’s most popular shows for kids.

Levi hosted a literary talk show for children on Israeli Channel 2. Yannets is also a popular lecturer for teachers, librarians and parents, exploring ways of encouraging children and teenagers to read.

As a scriptwriter, Levi wrote for drama and documentary TV series and is one of the creators of Carthago, a new English language series about detainees in a British prison camp in Africa during World War 2. Levi is also co-writer and co-director of the award-winning dance film The Cuckoo’s Cry.
