Ron Leshem
Ron Leshem is an Israeli writer and an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter. His novel BEAUFORT, which was at the top of Israel’s best-sellers list for two years, won the Sapir Prize for Literature, Israel's top literary award and has been published in 22 languages. Leshem co-wrote the film version of BEAUFORT, which won the Berlin International Film Festival Silver Bear for Best Director (Joseph Cedar) and was an Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Language Film. He is president of programming and content for Israeli television's Channel 2, Israel’s leading broadcast network. He created and co-wrote the drama series "MICE" (in Hebrew Ta Gordin, the Gordin Cell), and the dramatic series "Euphoria".
As head of programming and content for Keshet Broadcasting, he was responsible for the development and production of some of the most popular and award-winning Israeli TV series, including: Prisoners Of War (the Israeli original version of Homeland), Arab Labor, the A-word, and Traffic Light.
Leshem formerly was deputy chief editor for the daily newspaper Ma'ariv daily and was head of the news division at Yediot Ahronot newspaper, for which also wrote as an analyst on military affairs and spent 3 years as a reporter in the Palestinian West Bank and Gaza.
Leshem is a popular speaker in English and has lectured at Harvard, Yale, BU, University of Illinois, Brandeis, Wesleyan University, Rutgers University, U.C. Berkeley, San Jose State University, and the University of Leeds.
