ACCIDENTAL PROOF (Fiction) 2009

Two unlikely heroes take on a mysterious murder case in Uri Levron’s debut novel Accidental Proof. Omer Berlovitz, a mediocre film producer and the father of two young girls, is constantly angry: with his successful wife, with his aggressive business partner, and with his own body that he believes has betrayed him when he discovers he has a minor form of cancer. When the commercial he produces in Romania ends abruptly with the death of the supermodel it features, his life seems to be spiraling down quickly. Reuven Goren, a fifty-year-old failed insurance investigator is also found on the same set, hired by a rich businessman to watch over the model. These two anti-heroes begin to realize that the mysterious death had more to it, and against all likelihood they begin to collaborate on a clumsy investigation. As the investigation emerges in the most unexpected places, this intelligent suspense thriller leads readers through its characters’ highs and lows as they set out to find the truth but end up learning about themselves, their families, and the meaning of friendship.
